Mixed Berry Jam

I have really started to simplify and ultimately have become more picky with what I put in my body. I rarely ever add sugar to anything I bake, and now I’m paying extra attention to the sugar content in the condiments I'm buying.

I wanted to buy a jam for my oats that had no added sugar, and no preservatives, or synthetic flavors. I went to Whole Foods and read the label on EVERY jar, and not one existed.

so I made this!

i’ve never made jam before and I have to say; it was so much easier than I thought.

most recipes I’ve seen say to use fresh fruit, but I only had frozen fruit to use. & it worked perfectly.

To make this super simple jam, all you need is a bag of frozen berries: I used this one by Wyman’s: blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, you'll also need 3 dates, and 1 lemon!

In a medium saucepan, on high heat add 1 cup of the frozen berries and cook for about 2 minutes, and then add in 3 pitted medjool dates. Begin squishing the fruits and dates with a masher, or a fork. Bring down the heat and squeeze fresh lemon juice of 1 whole lemon and continue stirring.

The consistency should be jam-like! If you want it thicker, then add another date. Once your jam is thick and completely mixed, let cool in the pan. Then add your jam to a jar and refrigerate until completely chilled!

Hope you love it!
